Why I Hand-Knot Every Pearl Bracelet

I hand-knot every Pearl Bench bracelet because I love the feel of the pearls, and how they look when they’re knotted.

There is something about a strand of pearls that changes when each pearl is separated by a small knot. The pearls have room to move. They drape differently. They feel softer and more natural on the wrist.

Each bracelet is knotted on silk, one pearl at a time. The knots help protect the pearls, allow the bracelet to move comfortably, and create the traditional look that has been used for generations.

After spending years working with jewellery, I have learned that the small details often make the biggest difference. Hand-knotting is a slower process, but I believe beautiful materials deserve patience and care.

It also means I spend a lot of time with each bracelet. One pearl, one knot, repeated again and again. Some people might call that a little obsessive. I prefer to call it knowing exactly how I want my pearls to feel.

For me, hand-knotting is not just a technique. It is part of the experience of wearing pearls.

Pearls are formed slowly in nature. I like that the process of turning them into jewellery also takes time.
